Julieta Venegas is one of my favourite Spanish-spoken singers. She's got a lovely smooth voice - great for when you need something nice to listen to. I don't know if she's well known on the other side of the Atlantic! hehe.
Julieta was born in California but was brought up in Mexico. She's won a Latin Grammy (called a Grammy Latino) and has apparently (accoring to internet sources) sold 6 000 000 albums/singles to date.
She sings but plays loads of different instruments as well like the acordian, piano, guitar, base and some percussion bits and pieces.
It's pop latino that she sings and she's good to listen to if you're learning Spanish because she sings quite clearly and has a lovely voice :)

She is! My favourite songs are Eres Para Mi (you're for me) and Limon y Sal (lemon and salt). You'd probably find them on youtube if you're interested :)
